Domestic violence also affects males

August10, 2016

In many countries, domestic violence has been receiving greater media attention. Much of the commentary has been based around violence against females. The statistics, however, show a slightly different picture. Based on the Partner Abuse State of Knowledge Project, about 24% of individuals are assaulted by a partner at least once in their lifetime (23% for females and 19.3% for males). The study found a higher overall rate among dating students and higher victimisation for male rather than female high school students. There is a higher lifetime rate among women than for men.
